British Ambassador to Israel welcomes the Kulanana NGO delegation

British Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Matthew Gould, welcomed back the 15 Kulanana NGO Partners following the success of their Study Tour to London in March 2011 that was funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Over 100 Israeli NGO and government representatives, foreign Embassies and foundations attended the event with Kulanana partners to learn more about the "Kulanana" initiative and to secure additional cooperation on the initiative's future development.

"Let's Talk" Arabic Activity Days

Throughout the school year, Arab teachers in Merchavim's "Let's Talk" elementary school communicative Arabic program, organize mixed encounters between their own Jewish schools and local Arab schools. These encounters represent important opportunities for children who do not ordinarily meet to interact on an informal basis, thereby allowing them to widen their perspectives on the "other" and help them feel more comfortable with diversity.

Kindergarten event for 400 families

On 28th August 2011, 400 new first graders and their families from the city of Raanana enjoyed a wide variety of interactive activities in the city's main park. The event was co-sponsored by Merchavim in the framework of our early childhood program - "Let's Play on Sesame Street" - in partnership with Israel's Ministry of Education, Hop! children's television channel and Sesame Street.

Merchavim "webinar" for early-childhood program facilitators led by guest lecturer - director of Municipal Psychological Services in Nazareth - was dedicated to the impact of the home-school connection on children's development, attitudes and behaviours.
